Delhi govt notifies draft scheme for premium bus service

The Delhi government has released a draft scheme to launch an intra-city premium bus service by engaging private operators charging demand-based fares. The proposal, the Delhi Motor Vehicles Licensing of Aggregator (Premium Buses) Scheme, 2023, will offer comfortable, crowd-free, air-conditioned CNG and electric bus services in the capital, with fares based on dynamic pricing. The scheme’s 50-bus-per-operator fleet will be a maximum of three years old, with two CCTVs, and an emergency request button. The Delhi Transport Corporation and its cluster scheme currently operate around 7,200 buses.
