
Lucknow: For effective coordination ahead of upcoming assembly elections in three states in 2023, DGs of Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan held an inter-state border coordination meeting at Brilliant Convention Centre in Indore on Saturday.
Those who participated include ADGP Kanpur Zone from UP police Alok Singh, DGP Rajasthan Umesh Mishra, DGP Maharashtra Rajnish Seth, DGP Chhattisgarh Ashok Juneja, DGP Gujarat Vikas Sahay, DGP Madhya Pradesh Sudhir Saxena.
Officials in the UP DGP headquarters said that that meeting was held based on the directions of the election commission of India (ECI).
Some of the issues which were discussed during the meet include chalking out a strategy on nabbing criminals who cross borders after a crime. A list of offenders against whom warrants have been issued, habitual offenders must be shared between the states.
Smuggling of illegal drugs, liquor and other illegal objects during elections was also done, said a senior officer at the DGP headquarters in Lucknow.
Some other issues discussed included that efforts should be made to fulfill the demand of the home guard and police force. Action plan on establishment of inter-state blockade check posts. Running joint operations against mafia, organized criminals in border areas.
A coherent action plan for sealing of borders as per model code of conduct guidelines for poll day, while effective action in Left Wing Extremism affected border areas of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra, along with effective action on illegal arms and illegal liquor.
A detailed discussion was also done about sharing information in a technical way during all the arrangements for elections and to use WhatsApp etc. mediums and new techniques for better action.
