Days after India External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar called the border situation with China ‘fragile and extremely dangerous’, China’s top diplomat seems to be downplaying the standoff. China’s charge d’affaires Ma Jia said though the situation remains difficult, neither of the two sides want war or confrontation. The top Chinese diplomat also justified border buildup by calling it ‘local economic development’. Beijing’s attempt to downplay tensions come amid repeated provocations by its forces along the border. Watch this video for details.
