Searches Conducted On DTPL’s Premises, Agra Varsity Officials Also Under Lens
Lucknow: The Enforcement Directorate’s Lucknow division has seized 300 doctored answer sheets of MBBS and BAMS entrance examinations of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University (Agra) in fresh searches conducted at several locations in Lucknow, Kannauj and Agra in connection with the PMLA case registered against David Mario Denis, director, Digitext Technologies Private Limited (DTPL).
The DTPL had conducted these entrance examinations at the university between 2015 and 2022 and was allegedly involved in manipulating answer sheets of candidates for financial considerations. Denis, who was arrested earlier, is currently in the ED custody.
ED sources said that these answer sheets were recovered during searches conducted on the premises of DTPL and his employees, including Deepak Singh and Amardeep. They said that these doctored answer sheets were given to the university for evaluation by the DTPL. People associated with the DTPL allegedly changed these answer sheets before handing them over to varsity’s authorities and got their preferred candidates selected in return for money.
On July 22, the ED arrested Denis, his aide Devendra Singh and Samajwadi Party student leader Rahul Parashar in this connection.
The ED sources added that the gang members tampered with the entire admission process and received huge money from aspirants. “We are still probing the role of others, including the officials of Agra University,” the ED sources added.
In October 2022, Denis had accused Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSMU) vice-chancellor Vinay Pathak and his aide Ajay Mishra of taking a bribe of Rs 1.4 crore for clearing bills of his company. Thereafter, the case was handed over to the STF and then to the CBI on January 9, 2023.
