Election 2024: BJP is making claims on 6 out of Punjab’s 13 Lok Sabha seats. Shiromani Akali Dal is willing to give only four seats. Until the coalition between Akali and BJP broke in 2020, BJP used to contest on three seats and Shiromani Akali Dal on nine. Since the breakup of the alliance, there has been a significant decline in Shiromani Akali Dal’s political graph. A significant chunk of Shiromani Akali Dal’s support base belongs to the alliance.
