Meanwhile, the encroachers have moved the Uttarakhand High Court requesting a stay on it, but have not got any relief. Most of the families had vacated their homes by Friday night, while the remaining people moved out when the demolition drive began on Saturday. An official said that all the 134 illegal constructions identified were demolished in the presence of police and PAC personnel. He told that the exercise which started at eight in the morning continued till late evening. According to the official, the demolition operation was carried out under the supervision of nodal officer and Nainital deputy collector Shivcharan Dwivedi, sub-collector Rahul Shah and superintendent of police (crime) Jagdish Chandra.
