Faridabad: With the announcement of general election dates, the Model Code of Conduct has also come into effect. Even before the elections were announced, supporters of various candidates and political parties had put up flex boards on poles and hoardings on various buildings. Upon the announcement of the elections, District Election Officer Vikram Singh instructed the Municipal Corporation in urban areas and the District Development and Panchayat Officer in rural areas to remove the hoardings, flex boards, and other promotional materials placed in public places. These are to be removed within 24 to 72 hours. Although action had begun on Saturday following the announcement of elections and instructions from the District Election Officer, it has not yet commenced in the villages.
