Farmers’ Protest in Punjab: Train Services Disrupted, Chandigarh-Ambala NH Blocked for 7 Hours

On the second day of their three-day ‘rail roko’ agitation, farmers staged protests by sitting on railway tracks, and they also blocked the Chandigarh-Ambala-Delhi national highway for seven hours. Their demands include compensation for crop damage caused by recent floods, a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP), and a comprehensive debt waiver.

During the ‘rail roko’ protest, farmers occupied the Amritsar-Delhi railway track in Devidas Pura, while in Hoshiarpur, members of the Azad Kisan Committee, Doaba, held a sit-in protest at the local railway station.

Railway authorities reported the cancellation of some trains, diversion of routes for several others, and short-termination of certain trains due to the ongoing agitation.
