FIR in DA case against Narendra Giri’s ex-gunner

Lucknow: The Anti-Corruption Organisation (ACO) of UP Police registered a disproportionate assets case against head constable Ajay Kumar Singh, who was earlier gunner of former Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad (ABAP) chief Narendra Giri.

Singh acquired assets worth Rs 95.79 lakh in a fixed period and had also spent Rs 1.22 crore in same period, through various sources of income disproportionate to his known sources.

Inspector (Anti-corruption organisation, Prayagraj unit) Thakur Das has lodged FIR with Colonelganj police station under section 13 (1) b and 13(2) of prevention of corruption act against Ajay Kumar Singh , a resident of village Kodai (Ballia district) and currently residing at Allahapur (Georgetown) and found him guilty in disproportionate asset case after conducting a detailed probe against him.

In the FIR, inspector Das mentioned that home department had on December 27, 2022 ordered a probe against the accused head constable and probe began in January 10. He also claimed the head constable had earned Rs 95,79,591 through various sources in a fixed period and had spent Rs 1,22,58,251 in the same period. The FIR alleged the head constable had spent around 28% more money than his known sources of income.

The FIR also stated that Singh had failed to answer many questions during the investigations, following which, he was found guilty prima facie.

Police sources, meanwhile, said Singh, who was recruited in police in 2005 on the post of constable, remained police gunner of ABAP chief Narendra Giri for a long time and after the latter’s death, he was transferred to Kaushambi district from Prayagraj.
