In a concerning development, the embankment of Mahav Nala, originating from Nepal, has collapsed, posing a significant flood threat to the region. The incident has led to the destruction of crops and has left farmers infuriated.
This is not the first time such an incident has occurred. Just two months ago, due to the negligence of contractors, the embankment had suffered a breach.
While Nepal’s hills continue to experience heavy rainfall, the situation escalated here as well after a spell of light rain, resulting in the embankment giving way. The breach, which spans approximately 2 meters, has submerged fields in several villages, spelling disaster for local agriculture.
Located in the western part of the Nautanwa tehsil, the breach in the embankment has raised concerns about the impending flood and its potential impact on the surrounding areas. Authorities are working on damage control and formulating measures to mitigate the flood risk.
