Lucknow: District magistrate (DM) Vishak G Iyer has ordered immediate dismissal from service of Dr Rashmi Suri posted at Bilhaur Community Health Centre (CHC) and departmental action against Dr Prashant Mishra of Ursala Hospital in Kanpur Nagar district of UP for gross negligence during surgeries. Both the episodes were reported last month and Dr Suri’s dismissal was ordered on Tuesday. The DM also recommended the Medical Council of India (MCI) to suspend Dr Suri’s licence.
Dr Suri, a contractual employee, was found guilty of leaving a gauze inside the stomach of a woman whom she had operated upon for a Caesarean delivery. Dr Mishra too had left a gauze inside the stomach of a woman whom he had operated upon. As the patient of Dr Mishra had died due to infection, the DM ordered departmental action against him.
The DM also passed instructions to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to send a proposal regarding suspension of the clerk posted in his office for not submitting investigation files in time.
Not only this, the DM instructed all the doctors and health workers to provide better treatment to patients and behave well with their attendants.
