In Gorakhpur, while the noise of Diwali fireworks kept people from sleeping peacefully, the extensive fireworks also once again turned the city’s air hazardous. The pollution level escalated five times within just 24 hours. While on Sunday morning, the Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 62, by Monday night, it had soared to a staggering 300 due to the intense firecracker activity during Diwali night.
