Government allocates Rs 1,650 crore for an additional 75 lakh LPG connections under

The government has announced a budget of Rs 1,650 crore for the provision of an extra 75 lakh free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), covering a period of three years until March 2026.

According to the current Ujjwala 2.0 framework, the initial refill and stove will also be supplied without charge to Ujjwala beneficiaries. Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Thakur shared this information with reporters following the Union Cabinet meeting, which was chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Cabinet approved the extension of PMUY to provide 75 lakh more LPG connections between the financial years 2023-24 and 2025-26.
