In fact, Mahipal Reddy of Medak district of Telangana has earned around Rs 2 crore in the last 40 days. Mahipal Reddy had cultivated tomatoes in 8 acres. Reddy said most farmers did not grow tomato this year after suffering huge losses last year but he took the plunge. They sow the crop in late April, using shade nets to avoid the heat, and start harvesting in mid-June when there is a seasonal shortage. Mahipal has been honored by the Chief Minister of Telangana. He said that the model farmer has made the State proud and is an inspiration for others. On the other hand, farmer Mahipal Reddy says that if the rains do not disturb, he can make a profit of one crore rupees from the sale of tomatoes.
