Heavy rains have caused severe flooding in multiple areas of Nagpur city, resulting in the rescue of 180 individuals, including 40 students from a school for the hearing and speech-impaired, according to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) are actively engaged in rescue operations, while two Army units are on their way to the Ambazari area, where a lake has overflowed. Nagpur airport reported 106 mm of rainfall until 5:30 am, and several roads and residential areas have been submerged due to the heavy rains. Schools and colleges have been declared closed as a precautionary measure. The city’s low-lying areas, particularly around the Ambazari lake, have been most affected by the incessant rainfall. Multiple rescue teams have been activated to help those stranded by the floods, and the fire department is also assisting in rescue efforts. Fadnavis urged residents not to believe in rumors and stay safe during the heavy rainfall.
