Henry Cavill, Kevin Hart join forces for streaming spy comedy


Los Angeles, June 6 (IANS) Hollywood star Henry Cavill is all set to share the screen with Kevin Hart in a new action comedy. Henry Cavill and Kevin star as rival spies who cross paths in a Lamaze class when their wives become fast friends.

Shawn Levy’s 21 Laps and Ryan Reynolds’ Maximum Effort are producing the untitled film, with McG directing. The script was written by Adam and Aaron Nee, whose latest film ‘Masters of the Universe’, is now playing in theaters, and Jonathan Tropper. The project is based on a short story by Sean Lewis, reports ‘Variety’.

The synopsis reads, “Their double lives collide in unexpectedly hilarious and dangerous ways forcing the two men to reluctantly become confidantes and partners on the road to fatherhood”.

In addition to starring in the film, Hart also produces via his Hartbeat banner, along with Luke Kelly-Clyne and Bryan Smiley.

As per ‘Variety’, Levy, Dan Levine and Emily Morris produce for 21 Laps alongside Reynolds, George Dewey and Patrick Gooing for Maximum Effort. Henry Cavill next stars in the ‘Highlander’ reboot, directed by Chad Stahelski, who is known for ‘John Wick’ and Rawson Marshall Thurber’s both for Amazon MGM Studios.

But the actor also has a long history with Netflix, where he starred in the streamer’s uber-popular series, ‘The Witcher’, and opposite Millie Bobby Brown in the ‘Enola Holmes’ movies. The Wrap first reported news of his casting.

Kevin Hart has also enjoyed a prolific partnership with Netflix, with popular films including the heist thriller’Lift’, the buddy comedy ‘Me Time’, the action-comedy ‘The Man From Toronto’ and family drama ‘Fatherhood’, which was based on a true story.

Last month, Kevin Hart was the target of Netflix’s live comedy roast, and his next comedy, ‘72 Hours’, debuts on the streamer on July 24, 2026.
