Lucknow: A pair of bikers illegally performing stunts on a thoroughfare in Kanpur dashed a 48-year-old woman and dragged her for around 20 metres, causing multiple injuries that led to her death in a state-run hospital on Sunday.
Ramrati, a resident of Ramnihalpur village, was walking the main road on Saturday afternoon when she was hit. The stunt bikers didn’t stop until pedestrians and others screamed in horror at the sight of the victim being dragged down the road.
Some people tried to waylay the bikers, but they sped away towards Unnao, police quoted witnesses as saying.
The woman was admitted to Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital with head, facial and other fatal injuries.
Additional DCP (Central) Aarti Singh said footage from CCTV cameras in the Ganga Barrage neighbourhood was being scanned to identify and arrest the suspects.
