Lucknow: Despite 11 months of protests, the Basic Education Department has yet to appoint assistant teachers. Following a court order in 2022 to rectify exam errors and select based on merit, applicants have demonstrated since August 8, 2023. Officials’ meetings with them haven’t resolved issues, leading to a 50-day protest outside the Basic Education Minister Sandeep’s residence starting September 8, 2023.
