Rituraj Gaikwad and Shubman Gill gave a great start to Team India and added 142 runs for the first wicket. Rituraj played an inning of 71 runs and Shubhman Gill played an inning of 74 runs. Whereas, Suryakumar Yadav was out after scoring 50 runs. Captain KL Rahul played an unbeaten inning of 58 runs. He gave victory to Team India by hitting a six off Shaun Abbott in the 49th over.
India has won in ODI against Australia in Mohali for the first time since 1996 i.e. after 27 years. This was the sixth match between the two on this ground. Out of these, India has won two and Australia has won four. After 1996, the Indian team has now won. Australia had won the last four ODIs on this ground. The second ODI of the series will be played in Indore on 24 September.
