Indian Mining Tycoon and Son Among Six Killed in Zimbabwe Plane Crash

On October 2, 2023, reports emerged of a tragic plane crash near a diamond mine in southwestern Zimbabwe, resulting in the loss of six lives, including an Indian billionaire and his son. Harpal Randhawa, the owner of RioZim, a mining company with diversified interests in gold, coal, nickel, and copper production, was aboard the Cessna 206 aircraft en route from Harare to the Murowa diamond mine.

The crash was attributed to a technical fault with the aircraft. In addition to Harpal Randhawa and his son, four other individuals lost their lives in the incident. The tragic accident has cast a somber shadow over the mining community in Zimbabwe and beyond.
