India’s First Lighthouse Festival Commences in Goa, Focusing on Developing 75 Historical Sites as Premier Tourist Attractions

The inaugural edition of the Indian Lighthouse Festival was officially opened by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the historic Fort Aguada in Goa. During the event, Sonowal emphasized that the festival’s primary objective is to convert historical lighthouses into tourist magnets through public-private partnerships (PPP).

Sonowal further articulated India’s aspiration to assume a leadership role in global maritime trade and mentioned ongoing efforts to modernize 75 lighthouses. He stated, “The festival is designed to revive the illustrious maritime history associated with India’s 75 iconic lighthouses and share these compelling narratives with the world.”
