Journalist Pradeep Mandal is currently undergoing treatment at Darbhanga Medical College Hospital, and his condition is said to be critical. Local police say that a few days ago, Pradeep wrote news reports against the powerful local liquor mafia, and this incident is a result of his reprisal. After the incident, Pradeep himself named two local liquor mafia, Ashok Mandal and Sushil Mandal, as responsible for the attack. However, after giving this statement, Pradeep lost consciousness and was immediately taken to Darbhanga Medical College Hospital. The police have stated that once he regains consciousness, a detailed statement will be taken, and the suspects in this case will be arrested.
