
On September 14, 2022, a horrifying incident occurred in the Nighasan police station area, where two minor sisters from the Scheduled Caste community were abducted. They were subjected to a heinous crime of gang-rape and murder, and their bodies were hung from a tree. The incident was reported to the Nighasan police station by the mother of the deceased girls.
A case was filed against Chhotu and three unknown individuals on charges of abduction based on the complaint of the girls’ mother. Following the trial of the Nighasan Incident, Additional District Judge Rahul Singh sentenced the two guilty accused, Junaid and Sunil (aka Chhotu), to life imprisonment and a fine of 46,000 rupees each.
Upon hearing the verdict, the families of the accused broke down in tears. The incident had sent shockwaves through the region, highlighting the urgency of addressing crimes against minors and ensuring swift and effective justice.
