Law student beaten up, looted by college mates

Lucknow: A final year student of a law college in Gudamba was beaten up and robbed of his gold chain and Rs 1,370 cash by his rival and his supporters, here on Friday. Abhijeet Mishra, resident of Sunderbagh area, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to hospital for treatment.

Mishra had a verbal spat with a student Mohammed Hasib over a petty issue on June 29 on the college premises and the latter had warned him of serious consequences. On Friday, Mishra went to college to write the final year exam and was accosted by Hasib and his friends right after he came out of the college.

“Hasib and his aides chased me as I escaped,” alleged Mishra, adding, “All of them were armed with sticks, clubs, and illegal weapons which they brandished while chasing me. They cornered me in a spot and started kicking and hitting me with hockey sticks, clubs and also with a gun’s butt. Other students present there could not muster courage to catch my assailants. They looted my gold chain and cash and left the scene, threatening to kill me if I reported the matter to police.”
