Lok Sabha Election 2024 witnessed a major setback for the SP-BSP alliance. Bhagwanbakhsh Singh, the father of SP MLA Abhay Singh from Gosainganj, along with his wife Sarita Singh, joined the BJP. BSP leader Karunakar Pandey also accepted BJP membership. All of them were given party membership at the BJP office in Lucknow by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.
