Loud chatter wakes him up, irritates him, minor ‘stabs’ 42-yr-old man

Cops Suspect Man May Have Wielded Knife That 14-Year-Old Snatches

Lucknow: A 14-year-old boy allegedly stabbed a neighbour (42) for shouting next to his room and disturbing his sleep just after midnight at a house in Sorkha village on Tuesday.

The incident allegedly took place in front of the family of 42-year-old Majeed Miya, a factory worker. Police said on Wednesday that Majeed’s daughter Shivli Khatun (20) is employed as a domestic help in the house where the entire family also lived.

Majeed suffered grievous injuries to his abdomen, and is admitted to a hospital in Delhi.

But sources said preliminary investigation indicates Majeed was scolding his daughter when the minor got annoyed with raised voices. Cops suspect Majeed possessed the knife that he may have brandished before it was snatched by the minor in the ensuing scuffle.

The 14-year-old also sustained minor injuries.

Majeed’s daughter on Tuesday filed a complaint, alleging the incident occurred around 12.10am. She said the minor, who was sleeping in a nearby room, was angered about being woken up from raised voices and came out to the corridor.

“He was furious and started shouting at us, saying that we disturbed his sleep. My father asked us to go inside and tried to talk to the boy. Just then, the boy wielded a sharp-edged weapon and stabbed my father twice. He then fled the spot,” Shivli told police.

The family called emergency services and rushed Majeed to a hospital in Sector 39. Doctors referred him to a hospital in Delhi where he is currently being treated.

Shivli said her family — Majeed, his wife and two other sisters — had shifted to Sorkha from Sector 116 just two months back. “We had no contact with the boy and the entire incident took place in public view,” she said.

Police said they found the boy in the village and detained him.

“During the investigation, we found that the boy was also attacked by the victim, who had snatched the knife. The minor sustained minor injuries to his leg during the scuffle,” DCP Harish Chander said.

Based on Shivli’s complaint, a case was registered against the minor under section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapon) of the IPC at the Sector 113 police station.
