Lucknow:Sitapur police on Thursday arrested one Furquan Ahmad (22) on charges of harassing a class 9 girl. The girl had allegedly stopped attending school due to regular harassment.
Thereafter, the accused reached the girl’s house on August 16, thrashed her parents and threatened them of dire consequences if they did not send her to the school. The parents had then lodged an FIR against Furqan following which he was arrested.
SHO Ramkot, Sanjeev Kushwaha said that Furquan worked at a shop on the route which the girl used to take for her school. “The girl was intercepted and regularly harassed,” said the SHO.
On July 1, he stalked and harassed the girl but locals intervened and the girl managed to escape, said the police.
She reached home and told her parents about the incident. But instead of informing the police, parents stopped their daughter from going to the school, said the police.
“When the girl did not venture out for school, then on August 16 the accused visited her house and thrashed her parents, directing them to send her to school and forced a relationship with the girl,” added the SHO. The parents then reached the police station and lodged an FIR.
