Lucknow: A man was cheated out of Rs 25 lakh by fraudsters who promised to get his son a teaching job at a government-aided school back in 2018, police said. A case was registered in the matter on Thursday and an investigation is underway.
According to police, the accused are identified as Harendra, a resident of Sudamapuri in Crossings Republik and Dayaram, a resident of Prayagraj.
Complainant Mahesh Chandra, a resident of Crossings Republik, told police that in 2018 Harendra told him that his friend Dayaram works at a school in Prayagraj that had a vacancy for an assistant teacher. Harendra then introduced the complainant to Dayaram some days later, where the latter allegedly told Chandra that his school is government-aided and the spot had been left vacant since 2013.
The duo then asked Chandra to pay them Rs 25 lakh to secure the position for his son, he alleged.
According to the FIR, Chandra initially gave them a cheque for Rs 4 lakh and it was decided that he would send them the rest of the money after his son got a joining letter. A few months later, in 2019, the accused gave them a joining letter for a Ramdhani Diwakar Primary School in Handia, Prayagraj. When his son went to join the school on July 1, 2019, however, he found that no such school existed.
When he went to Narendra’s house and asked for his money back, the accused threw him out and threatened him with consequences, Chandra alleged.
Saloni Agrawal, ACP of Wave City said that Chandra initially filed a complaint with the anti-fraud cell on November 10 this year.
On the basis of an initial investigation, an FIR was registered on Thursday against the two accused under sections 406 (punishment for criminal breach of trust), 420 (punishment for cheating), 467 (forgery), 468 (forgery), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the IPC.
“An investigation is underway and soon action will be taken against the accused,” she said.
