Man shoots self at hotel room in Noida

Lucknow: A 30-year-old man was found dead in a hotel room in Vijay Nagar on Wednesday night. Police suspect that he shot himself dead, as minutes before his death, he had called his elder brother and told him it was his last call to him. The deceased has been identified as Mayank Tyagi, a resident of Aakash Nagar, Govindpuram. He used to work as an accountant in a hotel in Noida’s Sector 62.

Ravi Prakash Singh, the ACP of Wave City, said on Wednesday, Tyagi had booked a room in a hotel located at Tigri roundabout.

“At night, the hotel staff heard the sound of a gunshot and immediately informed the police. When cops reached Tyagi’s room, they found his body on the bed, and a pistol was lying nearby,” he added.

At that time, a team from Madhuban Bapudham police station also reached the hotel.

“A few minutes before his death, Tyagi had called his elder brother and asked him to give the phone to his father as today was the last day of his life. Immediately, his brother informed the Madhuban Bapudham police station. Acting on the information, the police traced Tyagi’s location to a hotel in Vijay Nagar. When they reached the hotel, they found him dead,” stated the police.

Police have sent the body for an autopsy. “We are investigating the matter from all angles. We are checking the footage from the CCTV cameras installed in the hotel and the call details of the victim. We haven’t yet received any written complaint in the matter,” the police added.
