Mathura mishap: Four baratis die in NH collision

Lucknow: : Four persons died and four sustained injuries when a Tempo Traveller in which they were travelling collided with a truck on National Highway 19 under Kosi Kalan police station limits in Uttar Pradesh’s Mathura district.

“The incident occurred around 11pm Tuesday when 15 members of a wedding party were returning from Umraya village in Mathura. They were on their way to Palwal in Haryana,” additional superintendent of police, Trigun Bishen, said.

Dalbir Singh (35), Dhruv (16), Chunni Lal (55), and Shyam Kumar (40), all relatives of the groom, died in the accident. The four injured persons are being treated at a local hospital. The truck driver fled with his vehicle, police said.

“The footage from CCTV cameras in the area is being examined to ascertain what caused the accident,” Kosi Kalan police station house officer Anuj Kumar Rana said. “We’re trying to identify the truck involved in the accident,” he added.
