Mauritian devotees applaud PM Modi's act of reverence at Ganga Talao

New Delhi, March 12 (IANS) Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to Mauritius, on Wednesday offered prayers at the revered Ganga Talao — considered the most sacred Hindu pilgrimage site in the Indian Ocean archipelago — and also immersed the holy water brought from the Triveni Sangam during the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj.

The local people of Mauritius expressed happiness over the development while talking to IANS and thanked PM Modi for this.

Jessica Seesunkar, Secretary of Sanatan Rakshak Voice of Hindu executive, said, “I want to say to all Mauritians and Indians that we are deeply grateful to Prime Minister Modi for visiting our country. He has done a lot of work for us over the years. The people of India are like family to us. There is friendship and brotherhood between the people of both countries. As long as Modi ji is there, nothing can happen to our world.”

He said, “We all wanted to attend the Maha Kumbh Mela, but could not. PM Modi brought Gangajal from Maha Kumbh to Mauritius for us. This is a matter of great fortune for us. No amount of thanks will be enough for him. I have never seen anyone doing as much for India, Mauritius and the whole world as he does.”

The chief trustee and in-charge of the temple, Satish Dayal, said, “Ganga Talao is a pilgrimage place. PM Modi brought the water of Maha Kumbh here, which is a very important thing. PM Modi brings Gangajal every time he visits Mauritius and immerses it in the Talao. Many people from Mauritius went to the Maha Kumbh Mela, but for those who could not go, PM Modi brought the water of Triveni Sangam here.”

Another local also expressed happiness over this and said, “PM Modi has come to Mauritius for the second time. He brought water from Maha Kumbh and immersed it in Ganga Talao. Ganga Talao has become more sacred with the water of Maha Kumbh. PM Modi is a role model for us. He has done a lot for Hindus and Hindutva.”
