Mayawati has stated that the Uttar Pradesh government should begin a survey based on caste considerations while keeping public sentiment in mind in its policies and intentions. She also mentioned that in reality, it is through a nationwide census conducted by the central government that appropriate rights can be ensured. Mayawati, while targeting the ruling BJP party, said that some parties are feeling uncomfortable with the caste-based census.
