World Trade Expo in Mumbai to Showcase Technology and Facilitate Global Trade Opportunities
Mumbai, India – Ramesh Bais, the Governor of Maharashtra, has accepted the honor of inaugurating the 4th edition of the World Trade Expo, India’s largest business platform dedicated to fostering global trade connections, particularly for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). This Expo is scheduled to take place from October 3-4, 2023, at the World Trade Center in Cuffe Parade, Mumbai.
This event is a collaborative effort between the World Trade Center Mumbai and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI), with a focus on highlighting technology as a pivotal driver of trade and tourism. It serves as an invaluable platform for MSMEs to venture into new global markets and discover opportunities in trade, tourism, and technology exchange.
Dr. Vijay Kalantri, Chairman of the World Trade Center Mumbai, emphasized, “This unique trade exhibition will facilitate networking opportunities for MSMEs, women entrepreneurs, startups, and corporate entities with diplomatic missions representing over 25 countries, Chambers of Commerce, and Government agencies.” Dr. Kalantri further elaborated, “The World Trade Expo promises to be an auspicious platform for presenting trade and investment prospects in participating countries to local MSMEs, startups, and other stakeholders through Country Presentations, Knowledge Sessions, and Exhibitions.”
Previous editions of the World Trade Expo have seen the active participation of six state governments, more than 30 countries, 50 multinational corporations, export promotion councils, and other trade promotion entities. These past events attracted over 7,000 business delegates, leading to 5,000 B2B meetings that resulted in joint ventures, technological collaborations, export inquiries, and heightened awareness about the tourism potential in the countries involved.
The current edition anticipates participation from a diverse range of delegates, including MSME exporters and importers, corporate entities, startups, distributors, women entrepreneurs, traders, and diplomats. Additionally, state government officials, industry associations, experts, travel agents, tour operators, financial institutions, consultants, service providers, students, and researchers are expected to attend.
A prominent feature of the Expo is its lineup of knowledge sessions and country presentations that will address contemporary topics related to trade, technology, tourism, investments, and joint ventures. Furthermore, experts will share actionable insights into emerging trends in global markets. Emphasizing the significance of this Expo, Rupa Naik, Executive Director of WTC Mumbai, stated, “A primary objective of the Expo is to guide aspiring entrepreneurs in expanding their global business reach. With India at the center of global attention post the G20 Summit, it presents an opportune moment for Indian companies to capitalize on this impactful platform. The Expo will also feature special pavilions showcasing the export potential of products identified under the One District One Product (ODOP) initiative.”
