Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Monday that the assessment of one lakh income tax notices sent on the basis of mismatch between the information available with the Income Tax Department and the declared income will be completed by March 2024.
The Income Tax Department has sent notices to nearly one lakh people with income above Rs 50 lakh for mismatch between the information available with it and the information furnished by individual taxpayers in their Income Tax Returns (ITR). Apart from this, notices have also been sent to those who have not submitted tax returns.
