Lucknow: Khetasarai police in Jaunpur district arrested a person for extortion from truck drivers on highway posing as sub-inspector, on Sunday.
SP Jaunpur Ajay Pal Sharma said that the arrested person, identified as Umesh Yadav, was arrested during a checking drive on Manikhurd road. Apart from a car carrying hooter and beacons, the police also recovered two police uniforms, fake identity card and stamps of police from him.
While carrying out a vehicle checking drive, the Khetasarai police stopped a beacon and hooter carrying car and questioned the person driving the car about his whereabouts. Finding his activities as doubtful, the police started interrogating him strictly after which he confessed to his involvement in extortion from truck drivers on highways, especially in night hours, by posing as police officer.
