Over 10.5 Lakh Indians Await Employment-Based Green Cards, Study Reveals 4 Lakh May Pass Away Before Obtaining

A recent study reveals that more than 10.5 lakh Indians are patiently waiting for employment-based Green Cards in the United States, and shockingly, approximately 4 lakh of them may not live to witness the issuance of this highly sought-after legal document granting permanent residency in the US.

The Green Card, officially known as the Permanent Resident Card, serves as evidence that its holder has been granted the privilege of residing permanently in the United States. The issuance of Green Cards to individuals from specific countries is subject to numerical limits, commonly referred to as per-country caps.

This year, the backlog for employment-based Green Cards has hit a new record, with an astounding 1.8 million cases, as indicated in the study conducted by David J. Bier, affiliated with the Cato Institute, an American libertarian think tank.
