On Saturday, Sarfraz Bugti, a candidate of the Kistian People’s Party, was elected as the unopposed new Chief Minister of restive Balochistan province. The senior politician also enjoyed support from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). Bugti had previously served as the Information Minister in Balochistan during Imran Khan’s PTI government, between 2018 and 2022, despite being incarcerated during that time.
