Pragg Secures Third Place, Grischuk Claims Open Blitz Title

R Praggnanandhaa, the World Cup runner-up, secured an impressive third place overall, while reigning world champion Alexander Grischuk dominated to seize the Open Blitz title at the Tata Steel Chess India 2023 event held here on Saturday.

Although undefeated in four games, Praggnanandhaa initially led the pack. However, he faced setbacks with defeats at the hands of Nodirbek Abdusattorov (in the 13th round), Grischuk (in the 15th round), and Vidit Gujrathi (in the 16th round), ultimately impacting his standing.

Erigaisi emerged as the second-highest-ranking Indian participant, securing an overall fourth-place finish with ten and a half points.
