Girl’s Dad Alleges She Was Raped
Lucknow: A class XI girl died mysteriously after falling from the third floor of her school building in Uttar Pradesh’s Azamgarh district on Monday afternoon. Later that evening, police booked the school principal and the deceased’s class teacher under IPC section 302 (murder) based on a complaint by the parents of the 16-year-old.
On Tuesday morning, the parents met Azamgarh SP Anurag Arya and alleged that their daughter had been raped before being murdered. “I told them that the post-mortem examination had been conducted by a panel of doctors and its videography had been done. The entire investigation would be conducted scientifically and anyone guilty won’t be spared,” the SP said. SP Arya also sent a team of forensic experts to the spot at the request of the parents.
The teen’s father alleged that instead of giving clear information about her death, the principal had misled him. “I checked two private hospitals and reached the school in search of my daughter when I found her body lying in an ambulance near the school,” he said, adding that the bloodstains had been washed from the spot where she had allegedly fallen to her death.
The father further alleged that his daughter’s uniform was torn in many places, and they suspected that she had been raped. He claimed that the school authorities had taunted her, saying she wasn’t capable enough to study there. “We, however, kept her motivated to continue her studies,” he said.
School authorities claimed that the student was scolded by the principal for carrying a mobile phone, which was not allowed at school, claimed her father. “We had provided a phone to her to use while travelling between home and school and had asked her to keep the device switched off in school. It was informed that the teacher had found the phone in my daughter’s bag on Friday (July 28) but it is difficult to understand why she was scolded about it on Monday,” he said while questioning the principal’s role in trying to prove his daughter’s death as suicide.
When contacted by reporters on Monday, the principal said he was unaware of how the girl reached the third floor. He refused to comment further, calling the death “unfortunate”.
SP Arya said CCTV footage of the school had been checked and all aspects were being investigated by the field unit and forensic experts for an early breakthrough in the case.
