Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali expressed his sentiments on Thursday after his opulent period biopic “Gangubai Kathiawadi” garnered five National Film Awards, including the prestigious Best Actress accolade for Alia Bhatt.
Reflecting on the achievement, Bhansali, who himself received two awards – Best Screenplay Writer (Adapted), shared with Utkarshini Vashishtha, and Best Editing, acknowledged that commendation from a respected jury and government brings immense joy. The film also secured Best Dialogue Writer awards for Vashishtha and Prakash Kapadia, as well as the Best Make-up Artist award for Preetisheel Singh D’souza.
“I extend my happiness to all the winners, not only from my film but also from other films. The acknowledgment of quality cinema and the endorsement from both the government and a prestigious jury consistently bring a sense of delight,” Bhansali stated.
