Lucknow: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the local administration, in a joint operation on Tuesday, attached property worth Rs 38 lakh belonging to Muzaffarnagar drug dealer, Razi Haider Zaidi, 35.
“The action has been taken under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, after the ministry of home affairs sent a letter to the local administration to assist the NIA team in the matter,” said an official.
Last year in May, a team of the Gujarat anti-terrorist squad (ATS) in a joint operation with Delhi Police’s special cell and UP Police’s special operations group (SOG) seized around 155 kilograms of heroin worth over Rs 700 crore from Zaidi’s house in the district.
According to police sources, Zaidi, who is originally from Muzaffarnagar, used to run his drug trade from Delhi’s Shaheen Bagh area. He was subsequently arrested from Attari border.
