Rudrapur/Nainital: Udham Singh Nagar Police of Uttarakhand has arrested two smugglers with e-cigarettes worth Rs 57 lakh. The accused were carrying recovered cigarettes from Nepal to Delhi.

According to the information received from the Udham Singh Nagar police, an investigation campaign was being conducted against the smugglers near the Chikaghat bridge under the leadership of sub-inspector Inder Singh on Sunday night under Operation Prahar by the police station Sitarganj. During this, the Swift car was stopped and examined and 11 boxes of e-cigarettes were recovered from it. The value of recovered cigarettes has been estimated at Rs 57 lakh in the international market. Two smugglers in the vehicle, Nazim Khan and Afroz resident of Ward No. 2, Islam Nagar, near Noori Masjid, Khatima were arrested. The accused told that both had brought the recovered goods from a person named Rinku Rokaya of Nepal and were taking them to Delhi. Charges have been registered against the accused at Sitarganj police station.

On the other hand, according to TS Manjunath, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Udham Singh Nagar, all the police personnel who played an important role in this operation will be awarded Man of the Month. A reward of Rs 2500 has also been given to the team by the SSP.
