Cipla, a pharmaceutical powerhouse with a legacy spanning over eight decades, has always been built on the foundation of care. Founded by Khwaja Abdul Hamied in 1935, the company now thrives under the guidance of the Hamied family’s third generation. Samina Hamied, the executive vice-chairperson, has assumed a pivotal role in shaping Cipla’s future since her appointment in 2016. She is the niece of Yusuf Hamied, the non-executive Chairman of Cipla, and her leadership has contributed to enhancing the company’s reputation and success.Samina Hamied, also known as Samina Vaziralli, comes from a family deeply entrenched in the pharmaceutical sector, with a legacy spanning decades. She is the daughter of YK Hamied’s brother, Mustafa Khwaja (MK) Hamied. Despite lacking prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry, her tenure at the company has been marked by remarkable growth. Samina represents the third generation of Cipla’s founding family and currently serves as the company’s executive vice-chairperson. She holds an MSc in international accounting and finance, earned as a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science.
