Lucknow: A day after being scolded by his mother for not concentrating on his studies and playing online games on his mobile phone instead, a 14-year-old boy hanged himself at his house in Uttar Pradesh’s Banda district on Monday.
Police said that the class 10 student, the only son of his parents, ended his life by using a dupatta to hang himself from an iron angle on the second floor of his house.
“My son’s examinations were underway. On Sunday night, my wife saw him playing a game on his mobile phone in his room. She scolded him and asked him to study,” the deceased’s father said, adding that his son was good at sports and had participated in state-level badminton tournaments.
The body was handed over to the family after post-mortem.
