Sensational murder worked out in 24 hrs, DGP rewards Lucknow police with 25k reward

Lucknow: To earn fast bucks, the former driver of the owner in connivance with his aides confessed to have killed 60-year-old woman Nafeesa Fatima at her flat at FM Apartment. The police made the claim after the arrest of Jitendra and his aide Santosh 24 hours after the sensational murder of a woman.

Those arrested were identified as Jitendra Singh and Santosh Kumar, both of Ayodhya district. Their aide Irshad of Barabanki is absconding and the police are hunting him.

“Jitendra earlier had worked as driver at the house of the deceased and he was expelled from the job a few months back by the deceased’s husband Wasim. Jitendra owned up his crime in police interrogation and disclosed that he roped in Santosh and Irshad in the crime of loot to earn fast bucks. He said he worked as a driver at the house of the deceased and knew that her husband Wasim used to go to masjid to offer namaj everyday without fail,” said DCP North Zone, Qasim Abidi.

“In their confession, the miscreants said they reached the flat when Nafeesa Fatima and her husband were staying and pressed the doorbell, hearing Nafeesa open the gate. The miscreants caught hold of the victim by gagging her first and then tied her inside the flat to commit loot. They disclosed that they choked Nafeesa Fatima to death as she had put up strong resistance when they were overpowering her, and they feared she would free herself,” said Abidi.

The police said they recovered Rs 2700 in cash, two mobile phones and almost of the looted ornaments.

Joint CP, (Crime) Akash Kulhary, said the police got the name of prime accused Jitendra during the conversation with deceased’s husband and soon a team got CCTV’s footage in which an image of two suspects was captured. “The husband of the deceased identified one of the suspects as Jitendra and the team started their hunt and nabbed them. Both owned up their crime during interrogation,” he said.

The case was worked out as the incident came into light by chance as a pathology lab’s staff, who had come to collect blood samples from the deceased’s flat, reached the flat when the miscreants were to pack up the booty.

The miscreants got cold feet as they were not expecting any one to visit the flat and they fled the scene in nervousness when he raised an alarm. The pathology lab staff went inside and he found Nafeesa Fatima lying unconscious on the bed and he called her husband. The inmates attempted to catch the miscreants who were masked, but they succeeded in fleeing the scene.

The sources said had the lab’s staff delayed or had not come, the case would have consumed much time as the police then had no clue about the miscreants.
