
Six held for stabbing two brothers to death
Lucknow: Two brothers were stabbed to death in Jaunpur after they stopped some locals from consuming alcohol at their roadside food kiosk in Jaunpur on Tuesday night.
After a series of raids and encounters, Khetasarai and Shahganj police arrested six assailants who had come to take part in a marriage function, when they tried to escape after opening fire on the cops. In exchange of fire with the police, three of them suffered bullet injuries in their legs.
Providing details of the police action on Wednesday, circle officer, Shahganj, Shubham Todi said, “Police had reached Khetasarai market on getting information that two street vendors had been attacked. Police rushed the duo to the hospital but the doctors declared them dead.”
Thereafter, the cops of Khetasarai and Shahganj police stations started collecting inputs regarding the assailants when it came to light that they were attending a marriage function in Manechha village. When police raided the area, the assailants tried to escape, he said, adding, but on finding that they had been surrounded by the police near a temple in Manechha village, the miscreants tried to escape after opening fire on the police team.
However, the cops foiled their bid by retaliating, he said, adding, in the exchange of fire with police, three miscreants, Mukesh Bind, Nishu Bind and Satish Bind suffered bullet injuries in their legs. Apart from them, he said, their other accomplices Vivek Bind, Jagdish alias Ramsingh Bind and Amarjit Bind of Manechha were also arrested. Police seized three country made revolvers, live cartridges and a knife from them.
Earlier, a marriage procession was passing through Durga temple area on Khutahan road on Tuesday evening. The assailants, who were also present in this marriage procession, stopped at the food kiosk of Ajay Prajapati (23) near the temple. In the meantime, some of them also vomited at Prajapati’s outlet, when he asked them to not consume liquor and clear his shop.
This irked the miscreants, who attacked Prajapati with a knife. On hearing his cries, Prajapati’s brother Ankit (20) reached there, but he was also attacked. The miscreants then fled the scene. On getting information, police reached the spot and rushed the injured siblings to the hospital, where they were declared brought dead by the doctors.
Police sent the bodies for postmortem examination while SP Jaunpur, Ajay Pal Sharma formed teams to nab the assailants
