Hangzhou, October 2 India’s Swapna Barman on Monday created a controversy by alleging that she was deprived of winning a bronze medal in the Asian Games women’s heptathlon competition because of a transgender athlete.
Swapna, who won a gold medal at the Jakarta Asian Games, alleged that compatriot Nandini Agasara was not eligible to participate in the women’s event because she is transgender. Swapna later removed this post from social media.
