For the prevention of increasing fake medicines in the country, the Central Government has issued an order to put QR codes on medicines. The Drugs Control General of India has ordered 300 pharma companies to install QR codes from August 1, 2023. According to the order, the country’s top 300 drug brands will have to put QR codes on their medicines. The pharmaceutical company will have to pay a fine for not obeying the DCGI order.

Which medicines will have QR code?
Top pharma companies of the country will put QR codes on their medicines from today. Ranging from Calpol, Dolo, Saridon, Combiflam and antibiotics Azithral, Augmentin, Ceftum to anti-allergy drug Allegra and thyroid drug Thyronorm. DCGI said that any company that does not fulfill this order will be fined. The central government has ordered the installation of QR codes on a total of 300 medicines.
