The INDIA bloc announced its intention to initiate seat-sharing discussions and hold joint public meetings across the country.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal confirmed this decision, stating that member parties would soon start discussions on seat-sharing and would organize joint public meetings. The first public meeting is scheduled to take place in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, in early October, focusing on issues like rising prices, unemployment, and corruption within the BJP government.

Venugopal, reading from a joint statement, noted, “The coordination committee decided to start the process of determining seat-sharing. It was decided that the member parties will hold the talks and decide (seat-sharing) at the earliest.”

He also mentioned that the coordination committee had authorized a media sub-group to decide on the names of anchors for TV shows where no representatives from INDIA parties would appear.

The coordination and election strategy committee of the INDIA alliance convened for the first time at the residence of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar in New Delhi. Notably, some members were absent from the meeting, including TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, Hemant Soren, and Lalan Singh of JD(U).
