Due to torrential rains at various places in Uttarakhand, the water level of river Ganga crossed the danger mark at both Haridwar and Rishikesh. He said that due to the increased water level of the Ganges, landslides are taking place on the banks of the river below the bridge in front of its base.

On the other hand, Ashutosh Arya, executive engineer of Narendra Nagar of the Public Works Department, told that the length of the Ramjhula bridge, built in 1985, is 220 meters and the width is two meters. It is located parallel to the British era Lakshmanjhula bridge on the river Ganges. It is made for pedestrians only, but two-wheelers also ply on it.
